Director Biography - Morzaniel Ɨramari
Morzaniel Ɨramari is a Yanomami film-maker, born in 1980 in Watoriki village, Demini in the state of Amazonas, Brazil. He worked as Communication Coordinator at the Hutukara Associação Yanomami (Boa Vista) and was formed in Cinema in 2010 in the Indigenous Culture Points project. He works as an interpreter, translator, cameraman and director. His films circulated in several festivals and shows in Brazil and around the world. In 2010, he directed the short “Casa dos Espíritos”, winner of the Best Film award, according to the popular jury, at Mostra Aldeia SP, in 2014. In 2014, he directed the feature film “Urihi Haromatipë – Curadores da terra-floresta'', which won the award for Best Film at the Forumdoc.BH festival. In his most recent film “Mãri hi - The Tree of Dream” (2023), Morzaniel signs the direction and editing and was filmed with the great shaman, Yanomami indigenous leader and president of the Hutukara Yanomami Association Davi Kopenawa Yanomami and produced by the directors Eryk Rocha and Gabriela Carneiro da Cunha. |
